NOVA scienceNOW | The Dark Matter Mystery | PBS

Videoyu Yukleyen: PBS
Video Hakkinda Bilgi:
http://www.pbs.org/nova/sciencenow We can't see dark matter, and some skeptics doubt its existence, but many scientists think it makes up 20-some percent of our universe. Astronomer Doug Clowe explains how the Bullet Cluster, a group of galaxies billions of light years away, may shed some light on this mysterious stuff.
Don't miss the new season of NOVA scienceNOW, airing every Wednesday at 9pm starting June 25 on PBS. Watch past episodes of the program, try out interactives, and more on our Web site: http://www.pbs.org/nova/sciencenow

Please Read, you can do better than that... When you have done some math about it, i mean serious math, you'll realize that what you wrote is pure nonsense!

what about matter that is too far for light to reach it and how far is that and why wont the light reach.
Black holes have ... ( 4 weeks ago by tjwill09)
Black holes have nothing to do with dark matter. When you add up all of the billions of stars, dust, and black holes it only makes up 10 percent of our galaxy. So what makes up that other 90 percent is the question so this is why they propose dark matter because there has to be something there.

Perhaps dark matter ... ( 3 weeks ago by Piscivorus)
Perhaps dark matter is the remnants of the last "big rip"- i.e. when the last universe was ripped apart by it's runaway cosmological constant thereby transforming it's matter into such a fundamental form that it can't interact with anything in any way but through gravity. Most of it can then collapse into a dark object and spawn another big gang. Normal matter is still subject to EM forces so, that might explain why the gas clouds are lagging behind while the dark matter clouds are more clingy.
I suspect that ... ( 3 weeks ago by SpeedOfDark186Kmps)
I suspect that everyone is over thinking the whole problem. I believe that it isn't matter at all but where the fabric of space folds over itself, sort of like a foil wrapper that has been wadded up and then reopened. The matter of the universe after the big bang falls into these folds, forming nebula caused by the extra gravity. When enough matter falls in, stars form, then black holes, galaxies etc. I know, too simple a hypothesis. How could it possibly be true?
Actually, it is ... ( 3 weeks ago by VelocityTino)
Actually, it is quite possible that black holes are what makes up dark matter. I have an astronomy professor who personally knows Stephen Hawking. He recently presented a theory that hypothesizes that black holes are actually their own class of elementary particles that have variable mass. While a few of them can form from stars into the black holes we are familiar with, a great deal of them just float around, so small that they can't do any damage. But they are heavy enough to cause the effects

When you think of "gravity" as "gravity",then of course you'll never discover "dark matter".The answers are so simple, but most people are blinded by pride. You have all gone outside yourselves, thus, you'll never know anything about the universe. All the answers are here on earth.I'll give you a tiny hint, and it may sound odd,but the answers to "dark matter",are within Stonehenge,Northern Lights, and the Egyptian Pyramids.

according to string ... ( 2 weeks ago by 2YinYang2)
according to string theory, there are parallel universes right next to eachother in higher dimensions. gravity is the only thing that can exit one universe and enter another. some gravity from massive bodies in these higher universes is exiting from there and entering our universe. these massive bodies are the dark matter.

according to String theory, gravity can travel through all 11 dimensions, maybe that extra gravity is because it's coming from another dimension.........who knows :P
