—dimensional map of how the dark matter is distributed across the Universe. An international team of scientists, among them groups from Marseille, the Max-Planck Institutes and Paris have been using data from the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope. The results are published in nature online of 8 Janu

Each particle of matter-proton, neutron, and electron has its corresponding antiparticle; namely antiproton, antineutron and positron, respectively. Each particle of matter (like a proton) has the exact opposite charge (but the same amount) as its antiparticle. If it collides with its antiparticle they both annihilate. Since matter exists, the universe apparently had excess matter over anti but nobody knows why! Dark Matter is a mystery! It's excess gravity in the universe but not matter!

planck23, isn't it strange that every fundamental particle (like an electron) is identical to every other fundamental particle (like another electron) except for one thing - it's location in space/time). It is possible that each electron is the same electron but exists in different "locations". Dark matter could be the antiparticles of matter that annihilated after a big bang. Or it's mass that's stuck in a black hole but that is wormholing its gravity! Finally, it may be "anti-gravitons"..

Indeed, I'm curious as to if dark matter even exists - maybe we simply don't understand gravity over large distances correctly. Still, the map seems to suggest a non-uniform spread of the matter, suggesting its not a flaw. We'll see how it pans out in the future.
